Quite a few of my friends have done a ‘365’ ’52’ or ’12’ project this year – that being one in which you set yourself something to do every day, week or month of the year. I didn’t set out on one this year but I’m planning to do so next year. Some of my favourites are about finding joy in little things, not worrying about all the big issues of life all at the same time. See: Howard’s 365 Happy Thoughts and Sarah’s brilliant Grace in Small Things.
I’d like to try to remember the little things, and remind myself to enjoy and value them but it seems silly to wait for January 1st just to write about being happy so here’s a little list of things that have made me happy today:
It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of Christmas, but it’s the music that I’m into really. Despite it only being November 4th I’m ‘rocking out’ to the King’s College Cambridge Classic Carols album and it’s bringing me joy with every cadence.
Putting socks on when your feet are cold
Instant hug for your feet!
Friends that really get you
After leaving what we might call my ‘old life’ in the middle of last year I had a terrifying and exhilarating few months re-starting – new friends, new home, new things. I am so lucky to have found some of the best friends a girl could have, who are all linked by their ability to be honest, genuine and love what they love. Big kisses to you all!
